Couple rescue tiny injured piglet from backyard breeder, he's scared at first but immediately opens up when he meets the cat and dog: '[The dog] took on this motherly instinct towards [the pig]'

Friendships can come in all shapes, sizes, colors… and species. 

People talk about how cats are not very friendly all the time. It's one of the worst rumors about them. Of course, we, as cay owners, know that this is not true. We know that cats form friendships as strong, if not stronger, than any other species. They are simply pickier about who they befriend. And that should be okay. We're picky about our friends too. In fact, being picky about our friends and not giving just anyone the time of day, we think, is what makes our friendships stronger. 

We have seen cats be real friends with all kinds of other creatures. There is us, of course. And anyone who says that cats don't love their humans has never lived with a cat and actually attempted to befriend it. Then, there are dogs. Cats and dogs can be best friends, despite being polar opposites in so many things. We have seen cats befriend horses, despite being a fraction of their size. We have even seen cats befriend birds, despite birds being their natural prey. 

Anything can happen with cats. They can become true friends with nearly anyone. They simply have to choose that they want to be their friend. We have come to expect that with cats. And yet, somehow, the friendship in today's video took us off guard. Not just a cat and a dog, but also a tiny pig. 

This piglet was rescued from a backyard breeder. He was injured, weak and scared, and considering his experience with humans up until that point, it should not be surprising to anyone that he was having a hard time opening up and relaxing around the humans who saved him. But these humans didn't come alone. They had a house cat and a large doggo already waiting for the piglet at home. 

We think that it is equally surprising - how quickly the pig bonded with the cat and the dog and how quickly the dog, and especially the cat, bonded with the pig back. You would not think that it would work. But it does. The piggy opened up right away, feeling completely at home. And being moe comfortable helped him get used to the humans as well. The healing process has started, and it is only because of this incredibly unique friendship.
